I WAS saddened to read how student nurses in Weston have been told they will not find jobs at the town's hospital because of drastic cost-cutting measures being introduced there after £30,000 has been spent educating each of them.No-one is in any doubt the NHS is as sick as a dog. Its original principle of free health care for all has become more and more meaningless, given that we are now rationed by age or postcode or simply by the kind of condition we have. And with rationing comes queuing. It wouldn't surprise me if Weston hospital ends up on red alert the way it is planning to save £9 million this year with 150 jobs to go. I ask myself how this could happen when the Government has poured billions of pounds into the NHS?D F COURTNEY - Victoria Park, Weston
