SOMEONE on North Somerset claims the Italian Gardens are the Italianate Gardens really, so a newly erected sign is correct.Having kept track of all such stuff for a very long time I wish to say the North Somerset spokesman should not try to rewrite history to cover yet another silly mistake on local road signs. The site has been known as the Italian Gardens ever since first use of the term. I have never seen a reference to any other description in all the time I have been researching.By the way, regarding a letter about donkeys, dogs are carnivores but donkeys are vegetarians so donkey droppings are not a threat. They can make a good topping for a sand castle.BRIAN AUSTIN - Alma Street, Weston
