RE THE Weston town centre parking zone, whilst congestion does need tackling, everything decided is always at the cost of the general public. North Somerset is spending £605,000 to set up the scheme and will need around 16 traffic wardens/parking attendants/support officers/Gestapo agents to enforce it.Is this really necessary? I don't think so.It's another ruse cooked up to extract cash from residents, at a time when the average motorist can least afford it.What is a driving pensioner to do? Presumably obtain his bus pass, put his car in the nearest auction, and lump it, or walk. In this day and age it's obvious no-one gives a toss so far as getting old is concerned. At 68 I feel already I'm not wanted by anybody.Decisions made by the council clowns are seldom fully thought out before implementation. The only alternative is the ballot box. May 07 is your first opportunity.Don't put up with it. Treat it like we did the poll tax. By all means give us parking permits free or at a reasonable fair cost based on ability to pay, but please give residents a chance for once, you council clowns. Be reasonable, will you?R L BACKHAM - Alma Street, Weston
