THE link road (Somerset Avenue) was designed to relieve the immense pressure that was building up on Locking Road and Milton Road in Weston, so why has a supermarket (Asda) been allowed to dictate traffic control policy? Building a right-turn lane and putting up more traffic lights a few metres away from a roundabout littered with unnecessary lights seems like a very poorly thought out idea. I am well aware of the peak-time traffic build up that occurs around Asda and the associated buildings but surely there is a better solution than digging up a road, stuffing more lights everywhere and ensuring chaos can preside. Roundabouts work better than traffic lights, a very obvious fact.Besides, why do you need to be able to turn right there when you can just circle the roundabout once and then turn left? It works, and it doesn't cause a massive amount of jams. The problems are surely on the Winterstoke Road exit of Searle Crescent. Are Weston drivers that lazy that driving once round the island and then bearing left is too difficult for them? I think not. It ain't broke, so don't try to fix it.IAN BAKERLocking Road, Weston
