AS a frequent user of Kewstoke Toll Road I am not surprised there is a problem with speeding. Even in daylight, mid evening, I have been passed by young lads racing, usually towards Beach Road. The new surface, whilst lovely to drive on brings a sense of security, along with the barriers, which weren't there before, when we had to endure a rough ride at more than 30mph.Barriers may bring a feeling of safety, but hit one, especially at speed, and you may survive, but be horrifically injured, trapped in your car, as it could overturn. I know, I survived a car crash 40 years ago.The problem is today's youngsters have the consequences of their actions hidden from them. Perhaps they should visit A & E or be shown graphic details of crashes. Unfortunately, it is often the innocent who are the victims of accidents caused by drinking or drugs, etc. There are many roads in Mediterranean countries with sheer drops and no barriers, but people drive with respect, knowing the consequences of one mistake. The new surface is like a circuit on a Scalextric track. Let's not have more families devastated by senseless deaths.SYLVIA HOLMES - Queens Road, Weston
