Following from your article on 08/03/2006 I would like to make the following comments. The volume of traffic in Nore Road has been impacted by other events in Portishead, for example, residents from the Coast Road new development, visitors to the amenity tip, and even residents in the developments near the Police HQ, all appear to use Nore Road as their shortcut. The speed limit is rarely adhered to, and drivers, however regularly they use the route, forget this is a residential area which has young children, household pets, parked cars on the road, two churches with regular services, etc. For road safety to be improved, the fact that it is a bus route to be taken into consideration. Ideally, I would like to see road humps installed like on South Avenue, or a road-narrowing scheme, or even road islands, etc. The most recent trend appears to be using electronic automatic signs to warn drivers that they are going over the limit and need to slow down. Whatever is installed can make the situation no worse because at the moment there is nothing to prevent this area being used as a rat run. I only hope that a fatal accident is not going to be the only driver to get something done! I am not a person who normally writes to the papers but I feel so strongly that this is something which needs prompt action. However, as there appears to be a vendetta against me already, I would appreciate my name not being published in your paper.NAME SUPPLIED - via e-mail
