THE welcome by Councillor Ashton in January's North Somerset Life magazine is an insult to all dementia sufferers.
THE welcome by Councillor Ashton in January's North Somerset Life magazine is an insult to all dementia sufferers.
He was the executive member in January 2005 who stopped the closure of Poppyfields and was the first chair of the Review Committee when is commenced in May 2005, but stepped down when the power in the council changed to Liberal Democrats
He took over the chair again in 2008 on the death of the then present chairman Ian Peddleson, but has attended no meetings, and has now called for closure, so I presume the last five years he has learnt nothing, but that is why we are all fighting to keep Poppyfields open. That is helping, not 'it is a difficult subject to talk about but we cannot ignore it', his last words on the subject,
Perhaps he should practise what he preaches, and apologise to all dementia sufferers and carers for calling for the closure of Poppyfields and reverse the decision, which we are fighting and let us get on with looking after our loved ones, not worrying when our loved ones may be evicted from their home.
Come on Councillor Ashton face reality which we do every day, and help us to keep Poppyfields open
