Vague and unexciting

IF THE council's proposed redevelopment of Dolphin Square becomes reality it could well turn out to be another monumental error.

The vague and unexciting ideas seem to consist of building yet more luxury apartments (not affordable flats), new council offices (which could be sited elsewhere), new shops (enough are closing and remain empty in Weston), a new library (come to Weston and read a book).

All of this cannot in my opinion be of any benefit for holidaymakers, visitors, other businesses or residents. Is this the same council team that knows how important events like T4 On The Beach are for Weston? Do the council see Weston as a seaside resort or a town that happens to have a seafront?

I feel everyone thinks Weston needs all year round covered attractions, entertainments and venues.

A concert hall if built there could attract top shows, bands and entertainers. What would other readers like to see built?

Dolphin Square may well be the last remaining central seafront facing site left for redevelopment. We can not afford to lose this opportunity.

Councillors come and go but whatever is built will remain for many many years.

I hope we end up with something we need rather than what the council thinks we want.

Weston needs to wake up before there is nothing to wake up to.
