THE debacle of the Tropicana has now descended into the realms of farce.
THE debacle of the Tropicana has now descended into the realms of farce.
For over 10 years various councils have prevaricated, debated, discussed and deliberated, all to no avail and finally, after all this time, nothing has been done and the site remains an eyesore.
What Weston desperately needs is a decent sized, all-year-round swimming pool, possibly with waterslides and a wave machine and accompanied by a smaller pool for children.
Added attractions could include a bowling alley, a roller skating area, a caf-restaurant and other outlets selling appropriate merchandise, all under a retractable roof.
Henry Boot's plans for development are quite ludicrous. Who on earth dreamed up the idea of a 96 bed hotel?
So many hotels in Weston have shut or been converted to flats or nursing homes that the idea of a 96 bed hotel when those remaining are rarely full is totally stupid.
Wake up North Somerset Council and produce a viable, exciting plan and please do not deliberate for a further 10 years.
In complete contrast, it is anticipated the the privately owned Grand Pier, which suffered a disastrous fire in July 2008, will be rebuilt and up and running again in 2010 - bureaucracy permitting.
