SO COUNCILLOR John Crockford-Hawley is fed up answering letters from us, the people who voted for him in the first place? Surely the idea of a political figure is to listen to the electorate and stand up for their wishes. Personal preferences to policy should never be allowed to get in the way of anything else unless there is a very good reason.I am not a sad, old anorak, as he termed it last week. I am a concerned 28-year-old who has watched this once clean and tidy town become a haven for drugs and violence while removing pretty much every single thing for tourists to enjoy. For us "little people" it is very difficult to get opinions put across without dressing up as Batman and standing on the Suspension Bridge. The press, therefore, becomes a major way of illustrating the views of a community. If our beloved councillor is so unhappy to be lambasted by the people in this town then perhaps he would like to stand down and let someone who might pay attention to the people take his place. For starters, he might like to stand up to First Bus and their desire for public money to run buses. Giving them £500,000 to do the job they are actually supposed to do anyway is possibly the most ridiculous thing ever, especially for a company that last year made millions of pounds worth of profits.IAN BAKERLocking Road, Weston
