I HAVE read on your website that the council is proposing to introduce a 20mph speed limit on residential estates and some other roads around the town. What a waste of time this will prove to be unless the police are going to monitor it and actually prosecute drivers that flout the rules. Until recently I lived in Locking Castle which has had a 20mph speed limit since it was first built many years ago. Unfortunately most drivers treat Maltlands like a race track! Before everyone points the finger at younger drivers it seemed to me the majority are not from this group but from drivers who would say they have years of experience in driving. Some of the worst offenders appear to be women who, possibly, have young children that are allowed to play on/roam the streets unsupervised and who would be the first to complain someone was putting their children in danger by speeding! Perhaps the driving test should include a reading test as so many drivers appear to be unable to read the road signs! Please remember if you break the law and speed that makes you a criminal and you should be dealt with accordingly!ANTHEA CARR - Thestfild Drive, Trowbridge
