I REFER to your report of the chairman of Nailsea Local Action Team, John Hunter, writing to Bristol Airport to try and stop light aircraft flying over Nailsea.
Would John please advise your readers the rationale behind this request?
The last recorded death caused by a falling aircraft to a person not a passenger was as far as I know when the Pan Am 747 hit Lockerbie in the 80s, and that was a commercial flight.
One suspects there is far more danger to the good citizens of Nailsea from, for example, motor transport.
I would be happy to show John the safety training pilots are obliged to take to avoid endangering third parties, which is perhaps one of the reasons there have been thankfully no incidents.
