I HAVE just read in the Mercury and on your website of the opportunity to voice an opinion on the Bristol International Airport expansion.
When I moved here 17 years ago, the flight of aircraft was hardly noticeable, but in recent years the air traffic over my house has increased considerably and no one has ever ask my opinion on expansion, although I live directly under the flight path.
We were told at one time that there would be no night flights, well there are now, every night and all night long. Last night, as it was hot, the bedroom window was wide open and I went to sleep listening to aircraft noise and woke up to aircraft noise. I am often woken in the night by aircraft noise, so why have the people of North Worle and others affected from Sand Bay to the runway end, as those in Bristol under the flight path, as well as those living local to the airport, not had the opportunity to have their say?
I appreciate there must be progress, but there is a limit to what residents have to put up with and I strongly object to any further expansion of Bristol Airport (which wasn't even International 17 years ago).
Parking, buildings and book in times have all grown to the detriment of the area we live in.
