I am writing to draw the attention of your readers to the benefits of home-grown vegetables. The national press has been warning us about the dangers of additives in our food, and the risks associated with genetically modified crops. The press also tells us that it is much healthier to eat vegetables in their natural season, rather than runner beans in April and strawberries at Christmas. Gardening is also the new 'keep fit'.If you do not have space in your garden to grow vegetables, and think you might one day get an allotment, can I urge you to apply soon. North Somerset Council thinks there is no demand for allotments, and are keen to build houses on land allocated for them. Please act before it is too late!Mrs S Legg - Wellsea Grove, Weston
