WITH talk of the regeneration of Weston town centre, why not go one step further and build an international conference centre with the associated hotel accommodation? With Bristol postponing its Arena project indefinitely; perhaps Weston could step in as an alternative venue. Weston needs to make a big statement it's been in the doldrums for far too long. With thousands more people expected to relocate to the resort over the next 20 years a conference centre and arena with the associated businesses they would bring would go a long way to providing the new jobs needed by residents and newcomers.Weston has the best transport links of any seaside resort in the UK: a central railway station, the M5 just four miles distant, and Bristol International Airport 10 miles away. Its geographic location is superior to that of Blackpool, Brighton and Bournemouth who all have large conference centres. Will the planners have the vision to embark on such projects or will the doubters and dinosaurs scupper progress towards such plans? I am not holding my breath!P DORNEY - Hogarth Walk, Worle
