LAST week's report re the charges being considered for the Tropicana if it is given planning permission shows once again that North Somerset councillors have no regard for the residents of the area. The charges quoted for the use of the pool area far exceed those charged at Hutton Moor and Sedgemoor Splash, Bridgwater. Two things come to mind: these charges will not allow many residents of Weston to use the pool; surely this should be an amenity for the residents more than for the visitors. Also revenue from the pool will go into Alan Richmond's company and will not benefit the residents.Secondly, how long will it be before the hotel bans residents from using the pool because it interferes with their guests? We will then be back into the situation we are now in with very limited pool facilities. It is time this whole Tropicana fiasco was dropped and the planners and councillors got together to sort out a sensible pool area which can be used by all at a reasonable cost.GEOFF BEAVEN - South Lawn Close, Locking
