DOES Councillor Ap Rees have the same amount of support he got when he introduced helicopter pleasure flights, or are they helicopter experience flights, I can never quite remember the difference! Permission was originally given for Bank Holidays and other special events through a technicality of wording; now anyone who lives close to the coastline has to suffer the annoyance of helicopters flying overhead every weekend. I believe Mr Ap Rees thinks it will put holidaymakers off coming to Weston if they see the emergency services practising rescues with the hovercraft; I know what I would prefer as a holidaymaker between the reassurance that Weston has an effective means of rescue for anyone who may get stuck in the mud or listening to the buzz of a helicopter while lying on the beach trying to relax. So, let's see how in touch with public opinion he really is. I've set up an email address chopper or hover@btinternet.com where you can have your vote. Just put chopper in the title block if you love the sound of that helicopter buzzing over head every weekend or hover in the title block if you think Weston would be a safer place with a hovercraft rescue launch.I'll let you know the outcome. Please note this vote will not have any consequences on any matter - it is purely to prove a point. RICHARD ALLAM - Uphill Way, Uphill
