Anomalies were unearthed

RE WORLE station and junction improvements, I am delighted our MP has added his voice to my campaign to improve facilities at Worle. He will remember I first highlighted the problem caused by those short platforms which do not benefit from so-called 'grandfather rights' over a year ago, and in my own discussions with both First Great Western and Virgin Cross-Country, ridiculous anomalies were unearthed whereby one company already has limited door opening facilities but can't reach agreement with the unions regarding who is responsible for actually opening the doors.With Network Rail's plan to engage in extensive track work at the junction I lobbied the industry last year to include a stretch of cost-effective track doubling on Weston's single-track loop line and am delighted my lobbying has proved successful and I thank Mr Penrose for supporting this. This will enable trains to stack on the loop line and improve connectivity to Bristol.Despite these improvements we need to keep the pressure on the rail industry to improve rolling stock and timetabling. We now have a ridiculous situation where more people are travelling by train and yet the capacity of rolling stock is seriously depleted.
