SINCE the release of last week's Mercury, April 10, mine and my partner's lives and that of our families have been made a living hell. The unfortunate circumstances are that I, Francesco Anthony Young, known locally as Tony Young, share the same name and age of an Anthony Young reported by Samantha Pope under the headline 'Jail after paedophile woos teenage boy'.I would like to make it perfectly clear that I am not this Anthony Young. I am a family man with children aged 14, 16 and 17 and therefore find this a particularly odious crime. We have all been bombarded with threatening phone calls, been abused and spat at in the street. My mother is in a constant flood of tears and my sisters have been bullied out of their local pub. I urge you please to let the people of Weston be aware of this mistaken identity so that there can be no further damage incurred by us.The Mercury is a quality paper and has a high standard of reporting and we in no way apportion any blame to them. We just need this nightmare to end and to be able to move freely in our town in the knowledge that the truth has been told that I, Tony Young, am not the same person as the Anthony Young shamed in last week's paper.
