I REFER to the mural being created on the wall of the Royal Hotel in Knightstone Road.
I truly appreciate much of the work to be seen on buildings locally, and respect and admire the creativity and skill of the artists' work.
I submit that none of this can be attested to the mural. The work is gothic, out of proportion and shows little artistic skill. Walking into Knightstone Road one is confronted by a dark figure that is almost malevolent, a monstrosity that would be quite at home as a Doctor Who alien. Figures supposedly representing people from Weston are included in what looks like a random, unconsidered manner.
And the paint is beginning to flake already!
If a surface of the hotel is to be used for this daub, could it not be the roof? There it can only disturb the seagulls!
