At this young age

WE ARE writing regarding the Ashcombe School 'Pupil love ban' article which made the front page.

Our son attends Ashcombe and as parents we would like to have our say. Forming bonds with others is important, however we do agree with Mr Turner's decision about not sending Valentine cards in school. He was simply asking cards to be sent to homes if parents wished their children to join in the day.

Valentine's Day is a date on the calendar like any other, but there are more important dates to celebrate at school especially, we feel, at this young age. The children have plenty of time to enjoy Valentine's Day in the years to come.

It is praise that should be given to Mr Turner and all his staff for doing their best to ensure that all the children at Ashcombe School are happy, safe and cared for.
