I SEE that the Conservatives won the June 7 election. I wonder if the Liberal Democrats, perhaps, did themselves any good at all by their constant badgering for votes. We live very close to St Mark's Church, where the vote was held. In the few weeks up to the day we received many, many mail shots from all parties but mostly the two main protagonists. In the days before the vote we received phone calls and visits from the Lib Dems. On the day, we received probably five or six pieces of mail (all parties) and at least two visits. People were seen to be knocking on doors in our street many times. The straw breaking the proverbial camel's back was a ring on the doorbell at 9.30pm to make sure we voted. Believe me that did not go down well in this household and in fact lost votes to any party, because votes were not made.It would appear that any genuine reason for not voting, ie illness, was not taken into account and really who would that have been any of their business?I have always voted as I believe, as do my family, that if you do not vote you cannot complain but perhaps I have been under the false illusion that politicians listen.
