WITH the Weston Beach Race being such a fabulous event it seems a shame that 11 days afterwards the beach was still in a mess. I understand the preparation, clear-up and sand dune levelling to be a monumental task taking a considerable amount of time but the very least the organisers could have done is a litter pick.I have walked along the seafront two or three times in the last few days and the sand near to the promenade stone wall is covered in discarded plastic bottles and other litter at the Royal Sands end. This is singularly unacceptable. How ironic it is that a 2008 Quality Coast Award flag flies proudly not 30 yards from this mess.ANDY NEWMAN - Quantock Road, Weston
