HAVING lived in Weston or the surrounding villages all my life, I was truly devastated at the loss of our wonderful pier. However, I don't believe it to now be all doom and gloom for the town. My 19-month-old daughter, Lauren, has just had a wonderful time on our beach and did not need the amusements to have an enjoyable afternoon, just a spade and a muddy puddle!I am also confident that the Michaels will re-build our pier as soon as physically possible and, while Weston may lose out on a little tourism for a while, it will recoup any losses tenfold once the fabulous newly-built attraction opens its doors.Just a thought, but has anybody put the idea forward to Kerry and Michelle that maybe they ought to purchase the Tropicana as their next big venture in the town?NICOLA BAIRD - Banwell
