AFTER a visit to Hinkley Point many years ago, one of Weston's councillors reported that there could be no threat because the place was spotlessly clean. He could never understand that radiation was invisible. Similarly with our beach. Weston beach is a sterile disaster. Natural features such as seaweed are raked up every day, but the Enduro is allowed to pollute the sand with cancer causing chemicals. The shaming report on local beaches provides another reason for not building the Severn Barrage. Imagine the pathogens which would build up if there were no tides to clean Weston beach twice every day.ROBERT CRAIG - Priory Road, Weston
