YOUR newspaper has given extensive cover to the loss of Weston's Grand Pier pavilion. The council's one-party publicity magazine North Somerset Life has also given a factual update in the September edition, though somewhat compromised by Cllr Ap Rees' arrogance whereby he, as deputy leader, and Cllr Ashton the leader claim to be the only two councillors 'determined' not to engage in "dismal squabbling and delays that have bedevilled other important seafront sites in the past". Does this mean the remaining 59 councillors are engaged in such negativity or had Cllr Ap Rees simply forgotten his colleagues? I wonder if this experienced politician would care to expand further on this 'dismal squabbling' and at the same time let us all know how he managed to keep aloof from what is after all the political norm. There's always the possibility that keen readers of your newspaper might have kept cuttings about councillors and their squabbles. SAMUEL HARVEY - Walliscote Road, Weston
