OFFICES or counselling venue what is it to be?Further to the report in the Weston Mercury on September 22 and the letter from Sally Minton on September 29. I fully agree with the comments made by Sally in respect of the use to which 18 Whitecross Road is to be put. Planning permission for office use should mean just that and not for use as a centre for counselling. With regard to the statement by Rob Thomas that it (Weston Counselling?) had been fully up front about this planning application this is clearly not the case since the application made no mention of counselling at the premises. The residents of Whitecross Road and surrounding area are clearly incensed by this proposal and the subsequent statements that counselling will definitely take place there.Perhaps Cllr John Crockford-Hawley, executive councillor for planning and ward councillor, can explain to his ward residents and council taxpayers how this application came to be approved when there were clearly doubts in many minds as to the true use to which the premises were to be put.The residents also deserve an assurance that the terms of the planning consent will be strictly enforced and that any use for counselling will be immediately stamped upon. I trust that Cllr John Crockford-Hawley will reassure his ward that he will keep on top of this serious problem and ensure that this does not become another long drawn out planning fiasco.CLLR K G MORRISWeston Town Council
