CLLR Kellaway Marriott states complaints are not passed on to contractors when green recycling boxes are left on the pavement and not returned to residents correctly. I can assure him complaints are passed on when specific incidents are quoted. I hope that he, and any other residents, will contact North Somerset's streets and open spaces section, telephone 01934 888802, e-mail streetsandopenspaces@n-somerset.gov.uk or contact their own NSC councillor when boxes are not emptied or when they are not returned correctly, but to speak to the men directly responsible, officers need to know exactly when and where the problems have occurred. Vague complaints will achieve very little. With respect to rubbish collections (a different contractor) I know rubbish was left on Locking Road from Saturday 31 until Wednesday 3 but it appears this rubbish was put out late. The collection took place from 7.30am on 31 (the revised day), but very little rubbish was out. Residents had expected the revised collection to be at the same time as their normal collections, but unfortunately for them it was earlier. The contractors returned to collect the late rubbish on Wednesday 3, an act of goodwill on their part at North Somerset's request.I will make sure future publicity states revised collections for Bank Holidays may be at 7.30am and not at the usual time expected by residents. So residents should put their rubbish out by 7.30am.CLLR DEBORAH YAMANAKAExecutive member of Environment and CommunityNorth Somerset Council
