I HEAR an application has been re-submitted for a three-storey concrete monstrosity to be built, taking part of Ashcombe Park away. The fresh plans, since the first one was turned down, is for a 73-bed nursing home instead of the original 78-bed one. Big deal. For one thing, a parking space for 21 cars would be insufficient for over 50 staff, visitors, etc, but above all, why take away part of one of our few parks? Green spaces are essential for not only people, but for wildlife, etc. It seems that even though the residents are totally against it, as long as its putting money into the pockets of developers, the wishes of so many protesters will mean nothing if permission is granted.MRS E GIRSHAM - Drove Road, Weston
