ONCE again congratulations to all involved in the T4 on the beach event. Plenty of visitors coming in bringing money and raising the profile of the town can only be good ... but what's next?Honestly, what do we have to offer people outside of the seafront attractions and a small helicopter museum? Pretty much nothing. Can councillors not see that people will come to this area when we put something on that they want to come to?It's time to sort it out. We have a whole new generation of people who have come to us twice for T4 on the beach. How can we attract them back? It won't be by a helicopter museum! We need to be thinking large scale. Or are we going to be known as the town that has T4, Weston Wheels, and is a cheap place to stay if you want a base to explore the Weston Country? How can we attract people? It's simple, ask people! Not just visitors, but people who live here and then listen to the answers and actually do something about it! For example, if you want to know what young people would like, talk to the youth council and allow them to have some say on events we should have. We cater well for older people in this town. We need to start listening more to the other groups that live and visit here. I am sure this will fall on deaf ears at the council, as the thought of allowing other groups (younger people especially) a larger say scares most of them, but let's think about how we can move forward and not just sit around telling each other how good things were.SHAWN SKELLON - Via e-mail
