I WAS more than a little saddened to read in the Mercury (September 1) of the continuing plight of the Worle platoon and that it is now forced to parade in a public subway. It is ironic, and a sad reflection upon today's society, that an organisation such as the Army Cadets, which strives to instil discipline and self reliance in the youngsters of today, should be put at risk by the actions of those with neither.There must be some organisation within the Worle area (or, indeed within Weston) which has access to accommodation that could be offered to the platoon in order to keep them 'off the streets'.
