ONCE again the solution seems to be a road! What about Mr Prescott's Integrated Transport System which is still going nowhere, and consideration be given to the establishment of a 21st century Wrington Vale Light Railway? The line of the proposed road could be used for a light railway instead.Yatton railway station was once the point of departure from the main line of the branch line serving Wrington and Blagdon, so why does it not become the point of departure of a dedicated electric light railway to serve the airport? The terrain and gain in altitude to the Lulsgate plateau cannot surely present too many obstacles for our railway designers today with their computers? They seem to achieve some remarkable railway routing with quite amazing gradients in the Alps, so why not here? A single track with passing loops, fully automated driverless units as on the Docklands light railway in London, and no pollution. Must be some set-off against the carbon trading on offer from the airlines operating out of Bristol.
