I don't know whose crazy idea it was to propose building a skateboard park in the Lake Grounds, but it is astonishing that it's even being considered. There is already a skateboard area at Merlin Park, vandalised of course, which should speak volumes, however, in plenty of open green space! The picturesque tranquil area of the Lake Grounds is a magnet for visitors wanting to escape the noise, bustle and overcrowding in inner city areas. Children particularly enjoy feeding the ducks and adults of all ages are drawn to the natural delights that this special place has to offer. The very nature of the Lake Grounds is its tranquillity, children can play happily and safely and this needs to be preserved at all costs. Skateboard parks need to be kept separately in areas where the noise, speed and activity does not affect the area in which it is built. Carolyn StubbsEnvironmental ArtistNichols Road, Portishead
