Paying drug addicts to complete a questionnaire may leave you 'underwhelmed' (Opinion, December 20), but as the main provider of community drug services in North Somerset, we highly value accurate information in order to ensure our services are targeted at the greatest need. Who best then to provide the clearest picture of that need than those who use the services and, if it costs a small amount to obtain that information, the cost is clearly offset by the ultimate cost effectiveness of the service. Ensuring public services provide value for money can be a thankless task, but to criticise North Somerset Council officers for spending a little to achieve this goal feels a bit harsh.PETER WALKER - Chief Executive, Addiction Recovery Agency
