ON July 1 myself and friends went for a walk around the lake at Portishead Lake Grounds. It was a beautiful sunny, hot day. Were we met by a tranquil lake with ducks and swans gliding over it? No, we were met by dead and rotting fish floating on the surface of the water and even a floating dead duck and the accompanying smell. What a wonderful sight for the families with children that wander around the lake every weekend. Surely with the amount of people that come to Portishead in the summer months, to sit by the lake enjoy the views and maybe even watch the odd game of cricket, something can be done to clean up the water or at least clear away the dead and rotting fish and fowl which must pose a health hazard. It's such a lovely place to be on a sunny day. I know we're not Weston-super-Mare but surely our parks and open spaces deserve some attention too. NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
