MAY I through your pages be permitted to award a word of praise and appreciation to the leader of North Somerset Council who expressed his views on the sorry state of the Tropicana in your paper last week.
His words were the most heartening I have read on this saga since I became involved in it in September 2006.
He indicated that he would be asking council staff to look into possible temporary alternative uses for the site and also making some alterations/modifications. I am, as someone who was fairly heavily committed to saving the Tropicana, delighted to read these views and comments.
Indeed with prompt and decisive action perhaps next week's Mercury might well in a small way be able to project a ray or even a blaze of enthusiasm - for the even temporary rebirth of what was one of Weston's greatest attractions for more than 50 years.
