Who has made such an outrageous comment which has prompted the decimation of our jewel in the Lake Grounds, without consultation with the taxpayers and the residents.Roses are long lasting and very economical to grow, giving pleasure to countless numbers of visitors to the Lake Grounds, flowering from early summer to the late autumn.The old and infirm from the local old people's homes visit the area regularly during the summer and enjoy many hours of pleasure viewing the flowers and sitting peacefully in the tranquillity of the lovely surroundings. Why would anyone want to deprive them and everyone else of this wonderful display? How can they justify their cruel actions?As a resident of Portishead, we suggest urgent replacement with all haste and I am sure that everyone would be more than happy to contribute a rose of their choice in order to reinstate the status quo.Leonardo Jenkins - Beach Road West, Portishead
