Like Mrs Ponsonby, I'm a Christian and believe that trying to look into the future and contact the dead are against biblical teaching. Going to a psychic fare is one of many things I shan't be doing on Remembrance Day, some of them as a matter of principal, others because they would bore me rigid. The important thing is that the choice is mine. I'm free to take part in any event I like on that day, provided it's legal. The minute you start dictating to Scotch Horn Leisure Centre and other centres that they can only accommodate events specifically approved by the Church of England, my freedom is eroded. I am sure that in many places, whether on the golf course or in the supermarket, people will pause at 11am to pay their respects. They can do so because of the freedom won for us by the millions whose sacrifice we remember. When we start eroding that freedom, whether at local or Government level, their sacrifice will have been in vain. Margaret Spivey - Clevedon
