IT IS about time that the residents of Weston and surrounding areas got rid of the pocket bulging councillors of the Conservative party.

Disaster after disaster has occurred in the short time I have live here (3.5 years).

Building the so-called carrot, The Tropicana and now possibly pensioners' bus passes are in danger of being taken away.

The final two points are the ones I feel are major let downs.

The Tropicana I understand has been empty for many years, all we need is a covered pool which can also be used, for example, as an ice rink, a ballroom and perhaps a music venue.

The Tory councillors have lined their pockets over the time with allowances and have now got egg on their faces.

I spoke to one councillor recently who agreed with me that either a small increase in the community charge or a donation of even a couple of pounds per person would cover the cost of this venture.Imagine the benefits we would gain in a short time.

I am retired and like many other pensioners have worked all their lives to obtain a good pension and still pay income tax on our pensions.

To take away the bus pass would be a sacrilege. In London pensioners have access to rail travel (approximately 15 miles either side), the underground and help towards the tickets on the river buses.

Please reconsider these points or take a long walk at the next election. It is about time that everyone who feels the same way should stand together, I would hate to imagine what will happen next.
