I AM one of those so-called ASBO mums M J Rogers complained about in last week's Mercury (page 6) and I am amazed and disgusted by his attitude. As I take my children to school each day we wave to a friendly lady who stands on her balcony greeting the children and their parents as they pass. I see this as a lovely gesture and it puts a smile on our faces as we struggle to get the kids to school each morning. He says we shout like a bunch of drunken yobboes, but I hardly see calling a friendly good morning to a neighbour is really comparable. This disruption as he calls it lasts for possibly 15 minutes each morning and it's not an all-day event. Here is a lady offering the hand of friendship to the young children who pass her door and connecting with the community. Instead of condemning her and us as 'yobboes' I suggest Mr Rogers looks at his own attitude. Why not consider starting 2007 with a new approach and exchanging a friendly greeting too?
