AS AN avid reader and occasional contributor, with regard to our only purposeful newspaper, it is impossible to ignore the dissatisfaction generally experienced by the citizens of Weston with North Somerset Council and its apathetic approach to the welfare of the town. While it is undoubtedly appropriate to vent feelings by way of letters in your journal I feel it may also be appropriate that opinions be directed to specific council departments and specific councillors. It seems that there is an essence of 'slipping the noose' when suggestions, opinions and complaints can only achieve a general airing and those at whom the buck stops, escape the inconvenience with total anonymity! It must surely be democratically correct, and acceptable, that those people paid to undertake critical roles be openly offered for accountability. Perfection is obviously too much to expect of anyone, or any 'body', but accountability is surely not. PAUL HUNTER - Trewartha Park, Weston
