It's that time of year again, the fair is in town and the scout movement and Nailsea town council will be dreaming up their excuses to justify why they should be here, and so early. Scotch Horn is now out of bounds to children wishing to play, dog walkers and residents wishing to enjoy the open space in the park. Year on year the fair arrives earlier and earlier, arriving sunday for a thursday start, and probably, like last year, starting earlier by offering discounted rides on wednesday - giving away vouchers at the school gates. Digging up the grass with their lorries, spilling oil and fuel from generators and disposing of waste water from washing machines directly into the field, build up of rubbish adding to the vermin problem in the park already, not to mention the trouble caused by the congregation of youths from local towns. I do appreciate the good work the scout movement do, and people do work extremely hard to get events off the ground, but I feel that the fair in town is an unnecessary addition to the May fair events.Martin Pratt - Via e-mail
