Forgive me if I am missing something. The council say that the community halls we have in Portishead, eg Somerset Hall and Avon Way hall are costing too much and need to be axed, yet we are contemplating spending more money on a new community hall in the Village Quarter and the £160,000 already earmarked won't be enough. My eight-year-old son pointed out, this is a crazy scenario. If he can see the stupidity in it, can't anyone in authority?Somerset Hall is a fantastic venue, one that the town should be proud of. It is unfortunate that it is so costly to hire though.Reducing its fees would make it more accessible to more community groups and I am left in no doubt it would be used more often, thus bringing in more revenue.Tracey Fowler - Avon Way, Portishead
