HOW heart warming to read one peer's comments regarding our pier. Lord Archer of Weston-super-Mare was quoted on page nine of last week's Mercury as saying "if we lost the Rozel, the Winter Gardens or the swimming pool that would be terrible, but this goes one bigger than all of those"Does Lord Archer take such an interest in his home town, and the one that he uses in his title, not to realise that the Rozel has been demolished and re-developed as flats, with the music gardens now used as The Cove restaurant? Knightstone swimming pool has been redeveloped and the other has been a boarded-up embarrassment for years. Bearing in mind his comments I'm amazed he knew we had a pier let alone where Weston is. What an embarrassment in not only make these ridiculous comments but offering column inches to this disgraced peer.ROBERT MORGAN - Via email
