I LAST wrote in January to share the plight of my 89-year-old mother and to ask for the support of the people of Weston and beyond, regarding North Somerset Council's proposed closure of Poppyfields care home at Ebdon Court, Worle.

I LAST wrote in January to share the plight of my 89-year-old mother and to ask for the support of the people of Weston and beyond, regarding North Somerset Council's proposed closure of Poppyfields care home at Ebdon Court, Worle.

The facilities for dementia care at Ebdon Court including day, respite and long stay care are vital and unique. I would like to say a big thank you to each of the many thousands who feel the same, and who have supported our campaign to keep Poppyfields open.

I would like to make a final plea on behalf of the remaining residents including my mother, to those councillors who will be voting. Please bear in mind the impact closure will have on this group of vulnerable older people if they are forced to move. The consequences of which will be unimaginable and heartbreaking for all those involved.
