For weeks now I have been reading articles and comments about the traffic lights at Cabstand and would like to say make the following points. We moved to Portishead in January this year and since I do not drive a car I walk into Portishead almost daily. Whenever I come to Cabstand I, as a pedestrian, feel very safe to cross the roads, which I would not in the case of a roundabout. I am almost certain that the young mothers with baby carriages or people with tri-walkers or on scooters feel the same. In addition, I do not think that cars have an extra long waiting period between the red and the green light. One suggestion from my husband, who drives, would be an additional green arrow added to the traffic light on Station Road for the cars turning left into Wyndham Way because there is no reason for these cars to still wait there while the cars from Wyndham Way already turn right into Station Road. The space available for all the exits and entries of roads, including access to the petrol station at Cabstand, is just not sufficient for a well functional roundabout which would also require traffic lights.Name and address supplied
