I WISH to thank the people of Yatton for the 'right Royal welcome' given to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh when they arrived in Yatton for their visit to North Somerset. High Street businesses and houses were decked with flags and bunting and, in spite of the rain, crowds of men, women and children had turned out to cheer the Queen on her way. Our schools closed so no-one would miss out and some people even took the day off work. 'What a day for Yatton!' exclaimed an excited local resident - and didn't we do it proud! Yatton children will remember all their lives the day the Queen came, so thank you all for helping to make it special.FAITH MOULIN - Chairman Yatton Parish Council
