THE council is going to pay consultants £50,000 to look at flood risk June 4, page 5. This looks to me, if you will excuse the expression, like money down the drain. We do not need to pay consultants to ask us where floods occur - local residents can tell the council and the Environment Agency direct. Congresbury has a constant risk of serious flooding due to the way the road bridge causes a bottleneck in the Yeo. We need a flume and a flood bypass channel, but I was told that there is no chance of getting this done, because the Environment Agency has no budget to do the necessary work. It would have cost more than £50,000, but that would have been a start.DR RICHARD LAWSON - Prospective Green Parliamentary Candidate for WestonWalnut House, Dolberrow
