I AM writing a history of 87 Gliding School (ATC) which later became 621 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, for completing next Spring to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the unit.No 87 Gliding School commenced operations at Weston airfield in 1943 and remained there until 1993 by which time it had been renamed 621 Volunteer Gliding School. It still operates, training the air-minded youth of today, at Hullavington Airfield.I should like to hear from anyone who may have memories (first or second hand), documents or reminiscences of the Gliding School for inclusion in this history. In addition to the various highlights in its history I am planning to include as full a list as possible of all staff, qualified and under training, who have served and gliders used. All information though seemingly unimportant, will be very welcome but as I have very little information of the 1940s, 50s, or 60s details from this period would be particularly welcome. Glider log books, press cuttings and flying programmes etc may all hold the information I am looking for.N A CULLINGFORD - Staff Administrator, 621 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, 8 Roselands Close, Fair Oak, Eastleigh, SO50 8GN
