If the problems of anti social behaviour have been dealt with, the Lake Grounds might be a good choice for a new skate park. Though why Councillor John S Clark thinks that residents want to overlook a skate park, and that skate park users want to be overlooked by residents, is beyond me. Is there an implied question of trust? If so, and skate park users cannot be trusted to enjoy the new facility without causing some disruption to neighbouring residents, I feel 'Pill' Park is a none starter, to threaten the tranquillity of this new public space, home to the marina's swans, would amount to civic vandalism.A final question, should this niche facility be financed by the public purse? To finance the building of the skate park through the fund-raising activities of the future beneficiaries of the scheme would more likely enhance feelings of ownership, and ensure the long term future of the facility.Name and address supplied
